There are many similarities between cooking and a chemical experiment. Both cooks and chemists mix ingredients to get a desired end result. But an understanding of chemistry can also help us explain many other things around food and even help improve our food. From tastes, smells, and health safety, Chemistry has been a part of our lives for much longer that we have even called it chemistry.
